Purusaari

Exercise your muscles in the lodge, rest comfortably on the porch and enjoy the scenery of Iijoki.

The outdoor recreation area of ​​Purusaari, located in Jakkukylä, offers wonderful views of the Iijo River and the Jakkukylä village trail.

The charm of Purusaari is enhanced by the rope castle with which you can cross the river bed on your own (distance 20 meters). In winter, the island is transported along a ski slope and ice. The site is maintained by the Jakkukylä village association. 

Services: Purusaari's 2 km scenic route, at the west end of the island, a scenic shelter where you can warm up. The wooden shed and hut will be completed in the summer of 2022. Swimming is possible on the beach, sandy bottom. Along the landscape route, guide boards are planned that tell about history and the environment.

Arrival instructions: Purusaari is located about 15 kilometers from the center of Ii. Drive from the center of Ii to the east on the north side of Iijoki road 851 Yli-Ii, continuing to Karjalantie, turn right Jakuntie (roadside sign Jaku koulu). Turn left onto Räihänniementie. 

There are two parking areas next to the road in the area, the first area is smaller for 3-5 cars and about 200 meters away is an area for 20 cars. From both, you can walk (about 300 meters) along the forest road to the starting point of the castle. The parking lots and the castle are marked on the map below.

You can also park your car in the Jaku school yard, near which the fitness track starts. You can exit the fitness track to Räihänniementie, and walk along that road to the Purusaari parking lot.
